Study Load\Duration of Study

Duration of Study (minimum and maximum) 

1. The minimum period a student shall spend in the college to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Sharia or law is six regular semesters interspersed with summer semesters.

2. The minimum period a student transferred to the college from another university shall spend to obtain a bachelor’s degree in the college is four regular semesters.

3. The maximum period that a student may spend to obtain a bachelor’s degree is fourteen regular semesters.

4. For a student transferred to the college from another university, the semesters accounted upon registration are included in the maximum period. 

5. Suspension of registration is not included in this period.

6. For the Bachelor of Sharia and Bachelor of Law programs, each (16) credit hours are one semester, and its average will be calculated. For the Bachelor of Law program with Sharia minor (in Maliki or Shafee jurisprudence), each (17) credit hours are one full semester. 


Study Load per semester (minimum and maximum)

1. The minimum study load (the credit hours for one semester) is (14) credit hours, and the maximum load is (20) credit hours. It is allowed to increase the maximum by an hour or two in the following cases:

If the student's average is not less than (3.5) points, i.e. (85%) 

If this leads to graduation

If the student graduates in the next semester, and the courses that s\he must study in the current semester are not usually offered in the next semester. 


2. The minimum study load may be less than (14) credits, if the student is enrolled in the foundation program or the remedial program, or the remaining credit hours for graduation are less than (14) credit hours.

3. By decision of the college council after consulting the academic advisor due to the academic standing of the student, the study load in the semester could be reduced to (9) credit hours. In certain cases, the student must abide by this limit of credit hours, as when receiving an academic warning.
